Two Inducted Into Hall Of Fame

The Nebraska Auctioneers Association inducted two men into the Hall of Fame at their 63rd Annual Convention. The convention was held June 3-5, 2011 at the Quality Inn & Suites in North Platte, Nebraska.

The two inductees are Colonel Bill Rut and Colonel Wayne Schultis.

Col. Rut entered the auction business after attending auction school in Mason City, Iowa in 1964 after returning home from Vietnam. Bill became involved in may aspects of the auction business. Currently he conducts real estate, farm, estate, household, antique, consignment, charity and livestock auctions. He generously gives of his time to charity auctions such as Ducks Unlimited, FFA, churches and many others.

Bill has been a member of the Nebraska Auctioneers and National Auctioneers Associations since 1965 and was President of the Nebraska Association in 1990 and served a three-year term on the Nebraska Board. He was the champion Nebraska Auctioneer in 1992 and Auctioneer of the Year in 1996.

With his wife Aris, Bill started managing the Crete Livestock Market in 1978 and purchased the business in 1981, conducting weekly sales ever since. He also conducted purebred hog auctions in Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Missouri for purebred breeders, farm shows and fairs. In 2005 Bill Rut and Anita Meyer established the Home and Country, LLC real estate firm and offer the sale of real estate at auction or privately.

Congratulations to Col. Bill Rut!

Our second inductee, Colonel Wayne Schultis, began working as an auctioneer at the age of 8 with his father, Irvin. He enjoyed auctioneering so much that it was common to see him skipping school to attend them. Later in life he attended Reisch Auction School and graduated in 1964. Wayne took the reins of Schultis & Son Inc. upon Irvin’s retirement. He has since served as President and CEO.

Throughout Wayne’s years as an auctioneer, he has witnessed many changes in the real estate and auction industry. He is always willing to donate this wealth of experience for numerous causes. Some of the annual fundraisers Wayne conducts are: March of Dimes, St. Jude’s, 4-H Livestock, Fairbury FBLA Consignment auctions, Reynolds Consignment auctions, Plymouth Consignment auctions, Daykin Consignment auctions, Saline Center Consignment auctions Odell Consignment auctions and Endicott Lord’s Acre Day Consignment auction.

Wayne is active in the Nebraska Auctioneers Association and has held positions on the Board of Directors and attends conferences on a regular basis.

Auctions are a huge part of Wayne’s life. He not only works auctions, but he loves to attend auctions as well. On weekends, when he isn’t calling an auction, you won’t find him around the house; he’ll be at an auction.

Congratulations to Col. Wayne Schultis!
