2012 Auctioneer & Ringman Championship Winners


(Aurora, NE) The Hamilton County Fair played host to the annual Nebraska Auctioneers Association Auctioneer and Ringman Championship on Friday, July 27. The competition attracted talented auctioneers from Nebraska and surrounding states to compete for the title of Nebraska Champion and entrance to the 2013 International Auctioneers Championship in Indianapolis, IN. The winning auctioneers were determined by judges from the auction profession that scored the contestants as they sold items to a live audience.

The auctioneer competitors were judged on presentation, chant, voice quality, body language, and other elements of effective auctioneering along with a personal interview. Tyler Runge, Buss Auction & Realty Co., Columbus, NE, won the title of Champion. The Reserve Champion was Russ Puchalla, Heartland Auction Co., Roca, NE. Placing Runner-up was Mark Kliewer, Kliewer Auction Service, Kearney, NE. Receiving the Rookie of the Year award was Curtis Wetovick, Fullerton, NE.

The ringman competitors were judged on presentation, enthusiasm, audience observation, and communication with the auctioneer along with an personal interview. Justin Schultis, Schultis & Son Inc., Fairbury, NE took home the Jon Moravec Memorial Ringman Award as the top ringman.

Rounding out the auction finalists were: Ora Adler, Adler Auction Service, Juniata, NE; Regina Andrijeski, Old West Realty & Auction, Curtis, NE; Gary Juranek, Gary Juranek & Associates, Council Bluffs, IA; Brent McCall, McCall Auctions & Real Estate, Onawa, IA; Wayne Morris, Morris Auctions, Columbus, NE and Mark Younger, Younger Auction Co. LLC, Maryville, MO.

The Nebraska Auctioneers Association, a 250 member trade organization, promotes the auction method of marketing by providing professional training and support for auctioneers in Nebraska. Jeff Temme of Covered Wagon Auction Service in Petersburg, NE is the President of the Association which is headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska.
