New Officers and Directors Announced for Nebraska Auctioneers Association

(Hartington, Nebraska) Alton Heimes, Creamer, Heimes, Janssen, LLC, Hartington, has been elected President of the 250-member Nebraska Auctioneers Association for 2013-2014. Creamer, Heimes, Janssen, LLC specializes in farm equipment and antique consignments, estate auctions, farm and business liquidations, charity auctions and speciality auctions such as coins, toys and others. His election was announced at the 65th Annual Convention of the Association held at the Holiday Inn Convention Center, Kearney, Nebraska, May 31, June 1-2, 2013. Shayne Fili, Auction Services, Omaha, was elected President-elect. Kevin Schow, Schow Auction Service, Paxton, was elected Vice President.

Newly elected Board Members include Mark Kliewer, Kliewer Auction Service, Kearney; Tom Millie, The Auction Mill, Omaha; and Tyler Runge, Buss Auction & Realty, Columbus, Nebraska.

The Nebraska Association works with more than 5,000 members of the National Auctioneers Association throughout the world. The National Auctioneers Association is the largest organization of its kind dedicated to promoting the auction method of marketing.

The Association annually hosts an Auctioneer and Ringman Championship Competition, providing professionalism for the industry’s top auctioneers. This year’s Competition preliminaries was held at the convention on June 1, 2013. Ringman champion was, David Whitaker, Steffes Auctioneers, Ames, Iowa. Twenty auctioneers will compete in the finals on September 2, 2013, at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Auctions exemplify free market competition at its best and are held everyday throughout the world to obtain the true market value of items ranging from real estate to personal property. The Nebraska Auctioneers Association provides a service to the public through a Code of Ethics adhered to by its members.

The Association also sponsors an advertising program to create awareness and promote a positive image of the Auction profession.

In conjunction with the Convention, Dean Lesoing, Vandertook Auction Co. LLC, Hickman, Nebraska, was named Nebraska Auctioneer of the Year. Keith Saathoff, Saathoff Auction Service, Creighton; Dean Schow, Schow Auction Service, Paxton; and, Don Vandertook, Vandertook Auction Co. LLC, Lincoln; were inducted into the Nebraska Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame. The Nebraska Auctioneers Auxiliary also inducted into their Hall of Fame Marla Saathoff, Saathoff Auction Service, Creighton; and Leah Schow, Schow Auction Service, Paxton.
