Governor Heineman Proclaims National Auctioneer’s Day In Nebraska

Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman signed a proclamation declaring April 19, 2014 National Auctioneers’ Day in Nebraska. The Governor recognized the growth of the auction industry and the valuable service Nebraska’s auctioneers provide to the public. The ceremony was attended by members of the Nebraska Auctioneers Association, who thanked Governor Heineman for his recognition of the auction industry and dedicated public service to Nebraska for many years.

The Auction method of marketing provides consumers, businesses, farmers, ranchers and public institutions an economical method of selling goods. The Nebraska Auctioneers Association provides education, training and a code of ethics for its members, providing sellers with the latest in technology, marketing and financial safeguards.

Association President Alton Heimes with Creamer, Heimes, Janssen, LLC in Hartington, Nebraska, thanked the Governor for recognizing National Auctioneers’ Day in Nebraska and stated that the auction method continues to be the best way for sellers to find potential buyers. “Recent auctions held locally have drawn buyers and media attention from around the world, today’s seller is not limited by geography,” he added. From antique cars to agricultural land and machinery, auctioneers are experienced in marketing products and bringing together the right buyer and seller.

Nebraska auctioneers are active in supporting charitable organizations through their time and talent given to their fund-raising auctions. The Association also focuses on donating to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. To date, auctioneers throughout the country have donated over $3.5 million dollars to the St. Jude Hospital.

The Association will be holding their Annual Convention May 30 through June 1, 2014 at the Divots Conference Center in Norfolk, Nebraska. The Nebraska State Auctioneer Championship Contest will be held Saturday, May 31, at 1:00 p.m., during the convention. The public is welcome to attend and participate as some of Nebraska’s best showcase their skills and compete for the title of Nebraska Champion.
